Dr. Who?

May you live to see your

children's children.

-Psalm 128: 6

It was three days after the New Year. My children and grandchildren had spent the holidays at our house. They had been gone several days and I was putting the bedrooms back in order...making beds, running the vacuum. I never know what's going to come out from under the beds. They always leave something.

I usually know what it is. When I looked at the above item, I was stumped. I had not even seen anybody playing with it. And there's this button that says "Try me." I tried. A strange voice started talking to me. Frankly, it was creepy.

I took the picture and texted both daughters. Does this belong to anybody?

"Yes! It's Nathaniel's!"

"OK. So...what is it?"

"Dalik from Dr. Who."

But of course...good ole Dalik. From Dr. Who.

I have no idea who Dr. Who is, let alone his buddy Dalik. If you know, don't try to tell me. I won't get it. This is a kind of fantasy that is way beyond my realm.

I am blessed beyond measure. I have lived to see my children's children. They are wonderful. I'm often reminded that there are things in my world they know not of. Like dial telephones, 45 rpm record players and Elvis. It is crystal clear there are things in their world that I know not of.

And a lot of it is pretty weird.
