A TRIBUTE TO MY FATHER, PURNELL KENNEDY:

These are pictures of my father doing what he did all of his life: sell fruit to make a living. He's the man putting the bags of fruit into the lady's car in the first picture. He's the man on the left holding the bag of fruit in the second picture. Center is Uncle Frank Ayers, and right is Aunt Clyde Kennedy, wife of daddy's brother, Uncle Tom.

As a young man right after his service in the Army Air Corps packing parachutes and gasing airplanes in Big Spring, TX, he returned to his roots and raised and sold fruit for the rest of his life with his brother, Tom. And raised and loved and provided for a family that now extends to eight great-grandchildren. He left us in 2001, but he's with us every day.
